Jenn-Air Pro-Style Gas Range Slide in Review
I recently purchased the Jenn-Air Pro-Style Gas Range Slide in JGS8860BDP.
I have had this range for 2 months. It works well and I like it a lot but we did have to address a few things. First, we had the range installed by Sears and they did a nice job. However, when I turned the oven on there would be an odor of gas emitted. Initially I thought this was part of the "new oven smell" that comes with the territory. Eventually I called Jenn-Air about this unpleasant problem. They sent someone out within a few days and he corrected the problem at no charge. He said that something was adjusted incorrectly at the factory that accounted for the gas output. He said it wasn't installed improperly by Sears. Second, a few of the burner were not igniting with ease. The repairman adjusted those as well. Although I found it strange that such an expensive item would be calibrated incorrectly I am now very pleased with the oven. It meets all my needs. The oven preheats very quickly which I love. There are a variety of burner sizes which I also like. If I need to saute something I can use a high heat burner and achieve better results than with my other stove. It looks great and cleans up well as long as you follow the instructions. There are many features I haven't used much such as proofing and convection but I will use them eventually. On the down side, the metal grates on top are heavy when you need to clean the top. The knobs are a little sticky and it does show fingerprints. Jenn-Air says to use Windex to clean them off which I must admit I haven't yet tried. Overall I am pleased with the purchase and I would recommend it.
