Calphalon makes a number of inexpensive lines of knives including the Calphalon Comtemporary and Calphalon Katana.
Calphalon Kantana Knives are new on the scene. They have great styling and are super sharp out of the box. The knives are made with a damascus pattern on the blade that is very attractive. My one complaint are the handles which are somewhat large and hard to grip.
Calphalon Contemporary Knives are more traditional styled knives with full tang construction and one piece forging of blade, bolster and tang. These knives have a contoured ergonomic grip and have good balance. They also lable the blade on the base of the handle so you don't have to pull out knives over and over to find the right one.
In general I like these
Calphalon knives and they are a good value compared to other knife lines on the market today. I do not like the full bolster of the contemporary line since it makes it hard to sharpen over the years.
