Specialized Knives Review

Here are some suggestions on good 1 purpose knives to have around the house. These knives do a great job at 1 or 2 tasks in the kitchen and should be considered only after purchasing more functional knives.

Oyster Knife

This knife does a great job shucking oysters but can't be used for much else. If you like oysters on the half shell it is a great knife to have. No other tool in you kitchen will work as well.

Tomato Knife

A tomato Knife is a smaller serrated knife that is designed to cut through the soft flesh of a tomato. The serrations are smaller than a bread knife and often they have a split forked tip to stab the slices.

Offset Bread Knife

This knife works better than a traditional bread knife because the handle is raised which allows your hand to slice to the base of the bread without dragging your knuckles on the cutting board.

Sushi Knife

A good sushi knife will allow you to slice fish effortlessly. Sushi knives are face sharpened to allow you to cut fish paper thin.
